[S]onder

Sonder “n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.”

Over four years, [S]onder transcended mere snapshots, becoming a profound personal odyssey. It started as an exploration but evolved into a transformative journey. With each photograph, I delved deeper into stories, emotions, and diverse perspectives. This commitment cultivated discipline, resilience, and an evolving artistic vision. Through this work, I connected with people and their otherwise unexplored existences. Each image mirrored not just the world but my inner growth. This venture taught patience, empathy, and the art of isness. It encapsulates a chapter of relentless dedication, fostering a deeper appreciation for the unnoticed and serving as a testament to personal evolution.

This project was my BFA thesis installed at SOMArts in June 2023. Coupled with a hand bound 17x22 leporello book printed on Epson Premium Luster (260).
